Horseheads, NY, February 19, 2016. — Micatu, Inc. provider of next generation optical based sensors for the utility and wind turbine industry, announced today that they were two of the four panelists that spoke at the 23rd Annual Economic Forum.  This year’s panelists included:

Steven Manning, Chief Executive Officer of Southern Tier Network. STN is a not-for-profit, open access dark fiber network built to improve the needs of public safety, improve broadband access, increase competition and the level of telecommunications services, and create a globally competitive advantage for job creation in the region.

Michael Oshetski, Chief Executive Officer, and Michael Jagielski, Chief Operating Officer of Micatu. Micatu provides next generation optical sensors that change the way the world senses with light, along with engineering, manufacturing, and original equipment manufacturing professional services. 

Dr. Richard Terry, DO, Director of Graduate Education for Arnot Health. Dr. Terry is helping to bring the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) to Elmira.

The forum was moderated by Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli and was sponsored by the Elmira Savings Bank, Southern Tier Economic Growth and the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce.    

Micatu’s Michael Oshetski, CEO, discussed the “history of the company, it’s humble beginnings and how the company is poised for exponential growth through its unique culture, technology and partnerships”.  Mike Jagielski, the company’s COO, followed up with a “formal recognition of the IncubatorWorks program, its CFO, Nancy Kirby and the contributions from NYSERDA’s liaison Michael Straight”.  “New York State has so many programs available to help small business and Micatu is proof that these programs are very effective,” he said.

In summary, Tom Santulli – Chemung County Executive stated “I’ve been to the Micatu facility and to see what this company has accomplished so quickly, is amazing”. “It’s also refreshing to see a company that speaks so very highly of New York State as a place for doing business” he added.
