Horseheads, NY, May 17, 2016 — Micatu, Inc. provider of next generation optical based sensors for the utility and wind turbine industry, announced last week they have been selected as one of 24 Semi-Finalists in the 76West Business Competition.

As an initiative of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, 76West is a NYSERDA-sponsored business competition focused on attracting startups to build clean energy businesses and create jobs in New York State’s Southern Tier Region.  Semifinalist teams from across the state, country, and globe have given pitches at Cornell University for a spot in the finals. A spot in the finals guarantees teams one of 6 prizes, from $1 million to $250,000, as well as incubator space, support services, and national recognition.

Joining Micatu’s CEO in the presentation at Cornell University were Mike Jagielski – Micatu’s Chief Operating Officer.

With the help of NYSERDA and hopefully, additional 76West funding, we can create even more manufacturing jobs in the Southern Tier”, stated Mike Jagielski.
